01.09.202607:05:29UTC+00Poland Manufacturing Downturn Deepens in August

Poland's S&P Global Manufacturing PMI declined to 48.3 in August 2026 from 49.0 in July, falling short of expectations for a rise to 49.6 and indicating a sharper downturn in factory activity. Both output and new orders contracted at faster rates, with total new work decreasing for the 17th consecutive month amid softer demand and intensifying competition from mainland China. New export orders also fell for the ninth month in a row, though only slightly.

Employment declined after having increased in July, and purchasing activity dropped for the sixth time this year. Supplier delivery times lengthened at their fastest rate since June 2022, reflecting production delays and transport disruptions.

On the cost front, input price inflation accelerated for the first time in four months, while output price inflation eased to a six-month low. Despite the weaker current conditions, business sentiment strengthened: the Future Output Index posted its largest monthly gain of 2026 so far, supported by expectations of new contract awards and an improving demand environment.
