The Reserve Bank of Australia's Index of Commodity Prices rose 15.5% year on year in August 2026, moderating from a revised 17.2% increase in July. The rise was supported by higher prices across most commodities, with the notable exceptions of iron ore and alumina.

In Australian dollar terms, the index was up 5.8% year on year in August. On a monthly basis, the index increased 1.2% in August in SDR terms, reversing a 0.5% decline in the previous month. Among the subindices, non-rural and base metals recorded gains, while the rural subindex fell.
